CAF Dismisses Officiating Referee of Nigeria Vs Zambia Match

Ghead Grisha, the Egyptian referee who officiated the match between Nigeria and the defending champions, Zambia in Nelsprit on Friday has been dismissed from the on -going 2013 African Cup of Nations as a result of poor officiating.

The Nigeria Football Federation, however lodged a complaint with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after the match.

According to a top official of CAF, “He has been sent home. He will have no further action at this Cup of Nations. His decisions did not tally with best practices of the refereeing profession and we would not allow anyone to start re-writing the rules of the game here,” said the official.

The dismissal was confirmed in a statement signed by the Assistant Media Director, for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr Ademola Olajire.

CAF has vowed to monitor the last Group C matches along side the other groups to prevent such mistake from being repeated.
