Press Release: Chartered Aircraft Conveying Agagu's Body to Akure Crashes in Lagos

Reportedly, an aircraft conveying the corpse of former Ondo state Governor, Olusegun Agagu, crashed today shortly after takeoff.

The EMBRAER plane 120 had at least 20 passengers on board, some of those who died in the air crash are believed to be family members and officials of Ondo state government.

The plane belonging to Associated airline was said to have crashed around 9:20am somewhere around Mafoluku, Oshodi. According to eye witness report, the plane exploded mid air just before crash.

Nine passengers have been reported dead and five rescued out of the 20 passengers as of the time of filling this report.

Press Release By Minister of Aviation

An Embraer aircraft operated by Associated Airlines with Reg No SCD 361 enroute Akure from the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, crashed shortly after take-off at about 9.30 am local time. The plane had 20 passengers and 7 crew members on board.

Emergency rescue operations commenced immediately by a combined team of Fire Service and security personnel . Some persons pulled out from the aircraft have been rushed to the hospital while a few dead bodies have been recovered, The rescue operations is still on-going.
