The 17-year old world record set by former American athlete, Michael Johnson was broken by South Africa's Wayde Van Niekerk. Wayde ran fastest in the 400 meter race at a time 43.03 against Johnson's 43.18. Interestingly, among the fans that cheered his glorious win was his coach - Botha better known as Tannie, a 74-year old great grandmother of four who has been a track and field coach since 1960s

Van Niekerk told reporters after the win......"She's an amazing woman. I’m grateful I could trust in her work, and I think it speaks for itself. What she’s achieved as a coach—I’m just thankful to be part of the history she’s made.” Botha actually said she has learned about coaching Van Niekerk from watching other great runners
